Over the years, the enlightened amateur collector
Alan Mann has gathered a unique collection consisting mainly of
African works of art. From his home which overlooks the River
Thames on Richmond Hill, Alan Mann has created a treasure trove.
This eclectic collection will be offered for sale at Christie's
Paris in December 2008. It was Africa which ignited Mann's
collecting passion but it was also vital for him to have an
emotional connection with the pieces he acquired and for them to
be historically interesting, meaning that he not only collected
pieces from Gabon and Cameroon but also pieces from India, the Far
East and Spain. |
