Susan Kloman International Specialist Head New York, Rockefeller Center Department Head,african and oceanic art  Paris, New York skloman@christies.com  Susan Kloman developed her passion for African and Oceanic art while obtaining her Master of Arts degree in Art History. She was compelled by the important historical connection of these works to the development of Modern and Contemporary art. As International Specialist Head for Christie's African & Oceanic Art department, based in New York, she is responsible for overseeing sales in Paris and New York. Prior to joining Christie's, Susan was the Department Head of African and Oceanic Art at another major auction house and later an independent consultant in the field. Susan has been instrumental in bringing some of the most high-profile collections of African and Oceanic art in recent years to auction and has provided expertise and appraisals for many important private and institutional collections. A Fang Ngil collected in 1922 by Léon Truitard, French colonial officer, and kept in the family since then. The  estimate is €600.000 to €800.000 and will be sold on December 13th 2011.

Beginning in the 1960’s with the esteemed consultant, William Fagg, Keeper of Ethnography, British Museum, they  have conducted sales of the most memorable collections on record, including the James T. Hooper series of sales, William McCarty-Cooper, René Gaffe, Russell Aitken, Allan Stone, Josef Herman, Alan Mann and Bertrand and Bernard Bottet.

African & Oceanic Art sales are held twice each year in Paris, in June and December, with Single-Owner sales held in both New York and Paris
